Well done Bruce I bet you were a liitle nervous watching it fly. My wife and myself meet you at a forum get together a little while back and took photos of your bird after you did some taxi runs. I did not realise you designed it yourself...very impressive!!! cheers

Congrats Bruce! I could hear the relief in your voice as CKE lifted majestically off the ground and headed skywards.
She's a good one!

Congratulations Bruce. All them long hours of work and even longer hours of waiting are over. Enjoy and a good reason to drop into Te Kowhai in the not too distant future.

Yep - it did 1.8hrs today including Max weight handling before the wind got a bit too gusty. If the weather goes OK over the next few days we'll be working through more of the test programme, and hopefully get it up to Te Kowhai sometime on Friday.

It's good to hear that you've had a chance to fly the aeroplane yourself now. How do you like it? Are you happy with the handling, etc?

All I can say is you ain't going miss CKE coming towards you - it has decent sound to it - just watching him Blating around over the Rural collins rd area.

That's a surprise to hear. When Bruce let me sit in on one of the high power engine runs a while back I was surprised at how quiet it seemed inside the cockpit even with high power applied, compared with other types. And at a medium and low settings you could still chat without aid of a headset easily.

Its distinctive sound, and a bit different to the earlier runs. The boy racer mufflers had removeable silencer coners for WOF purposes. These are pretty ugly pressed stainless, and they keep cracking, so ive just left them out. more trouble than they were worth!
