CKE made it to her new home at Te Kowhai today, arriving just ahead of the bad weather:
She only just fits through the hangar door with a few inches to spare - I'm pleased I made up a tailwheel steering bar as it needs careful and precise alignment!
As the hangar doors are currently being repaired and there is signs of bird activity, I put its cover on when tucking it up:

On Good Friday, whilst everyone was heading South to Omaka, Dave the test pilot came up to Te Kowhai to continue limitations testing on CKE. Since the last batch of flights I have made some tweaks to the propeller which has improved the take off performance, and corrected a few other minor bugs. Te Kowhai allows you much closer to the runway than Hamilton, so I have finally got some reasonable photos of the Adventurer flying (see below). The Limitations testing has progressed very well, with good solid data showing the aircraft has excellent stability and handling - which is better than I expected considering there was a lot of "That looks about right" in the design process! The really cool thing about the Friday session was I have finally had my first flight in the aircraft - officially as test flight observer to confirm the characteristics and check that I was happy with the loading on the flap handle. I got to fly from the RH seat during the short local flight and I am totally stoked at how nice it is to fly! (I was dreading what would happen if it was quite a handful or unpleasant!) I had a huge grin for most of the weekend.... a few more flights will sort the limitations phase out, then I'll get a "type rating" to continue the reliability phase myself.
Read up the thread a bit Dave - I had a little fly of it over Easter whilst everyone was away down country
Probably one one limitations test flight and I'll start getting checked out in it. Just waiting for When Dave the test pilot is free, the weather is good and there isn't a forum meet!
Thanks for the offer Pete, Dave has a GoPro which he forgot to bring on the last visit, but I might take you up on the offer sometime to get some additional footage.
