Built and delivered as a D. Upgraded to an H later. You can tell the original D ones by the blanked over hole on the nose for the old pitot tube location.

From Phil treweeks site: In New Zealand, the RNZAF have operated sixteen Iroquois aircraft (NZ3801-3816) in the period since 1966. The first of the initial five UH-ID machines was delivered on June 15, 1966, with all being in RNZAF hands by October. The first flight was undertaken on June 21st (in the hands of F/L M. Robinson, an RAAF instructor on exchange). A further nine newer UH-IH's were delivered between July and October, 1970. The original UH-1D were uprated in 1981-82 to UH-1H standard.

Great Pics Darren, right place right time mate :-)
A great excuse to avoid the main drag in Vegas for an hour or two.
P.S. does anyone know if anything interesting will be flying on the 26th or 27th at NZAR? Am in town again......(I reckon the NZ taxman is getting a bit suss!)

Bugger Dave, I'll be out in Drury...so Dairy Flat is a bit far away, plus I'm leaving the wifey and rugrat in NZ for a couple of months for the birth of our second drain on the resources.....and lastly, I need to be back at the crew hotel by 2.30pm for our pickup at 3.30pm....otherwise I'd be there with bells on. I probably should also add...I'd probably get strung up by the missus for abandoning her..and in her words "to look at some dumb aeroplanes"

That's a pity.
I never realised that Ardmore had a school. When Dad grew up there he had to bike to Alfriston School. Where is this at?
