Just been testing my 300mm lens after some diy cleaning and dust removal (a nice blue sky being a perfect test background) and caught this chap who has been circling slowly overhead at a relatively high altitude for some time now. Posted here as a matter of interest..... Cheers, Stu. p.s. I did crop a lot of empty sky out in Photoshop - he was quite high and my lens isn't that powerful

Great shot. I see the ramp is open, so assume either some photography of their own or more likely free fall parachuting.

the lens is never big enough thats the way it is! the sensor is clean, always a bonus.

Came out quite well Stu. How did you clean your lens? Very carefully ;D There was some dust that had somehow got under the glass and every time I was on full zoom, some rather nasty blobs would appear on the photos. Basically, I unscrewed three small screws - removed the locating lugs and took the glass off the end of the lens. I then carefully removed the dust off the lens with a lens cleaning cloth and put everything back together, all the while being as careful as possible not to get any more dust in. Cheers, Stu.

Great shot. I see the ramp is open, so assume either some photography of their own or more likely free fall parachuting. Ramp open, flaps down, low speed - hence being able to get a good shot despite the altitude.

Which reminds me I need to check if a have a spot in my long lens, or a spot on my nice new 'self-cleaning' D7000. Haven't done any small aperture shots with my short zoom recently to confirm. I have canned air, which I use for preference. Here's hoping I can travel light enough to take a second body to Omaka on the DC-3.

I was wondering if you used canned air to clean the insides. I haven't used my Canon SLR for some time now, think I'll pull it out soon and give it a 'scrub' and then some exercise.

Great shots there Stu and Dazz.
It's nice to see you around again Les (Camtech), I hope your health is now well and truly on the mend.
