This has been mentioned several times in the Classic Fighters 2011 thread but it keeps disappearing into old pages and I keep getting asked this, so here it is: After each day's flying at the airshow, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, the forum members will gather at the Marlborough Aero Club bar for a meet and greet. Errol has made some name labels for those who want to print their own and wear thm so others can spot them as forumites. See here: rnzaf.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=13208As it gets awfully crowded and noisy inside the clubrooms I suggest we gather outside in the beer garden once we have a pint and a bit of food.

will be good to see you guys. The V-2 will probably be out of bounds to public inspection due to the fact it is rigged with high explosives, but we are considering a guided tour for a few people. Let me know who is interested.

Hope to catch up on Saturday in the bar. Looks as if we will miss the V2 bang as we fly out Sunday late pm. Pictures please. I will have a splendid Forum badge perhaps in A4 for the shortsighted. Hopefully todays donner and blitzen will have long gone.

I've been in Marlborough (staying in Devon Street, Picton) since Monday. We did the Whale Watch tour on Tuesday, spent yesterday in Picton, and went and walked a couple of tracks in Nelson Lakes National Park today.
I'll be at Omaka first thing in the morning to book a DC-3 flight for myself and friends, then we'll all be there from mid-afternoon. We should see you at the Marlborough Aero Club late afternoon prior to the twilight airshow.

We were at 73a Devon Street (right up near the top end of the street). I had intended to get to the aero club bar after the flying ended each day, but I got lumbered with kids and they weren't being very sociable & well-behaved after an early start and a long day each day, so I decided it was best to not impose them on aero club members.

Well I went along on the Friday night just after flying ceased, and saw no-one from the forum. Apparently they were watching some ground show in the dark. A few trickled in after the fireworks which looked great from the bar.
On the Saturday I was on the way to the bar, about to walk in the gate, when I was called back by Al to get my camera ready for the first run of the Bristol, so I had to about-face and then had abuse hurled at me from the gathering of forum members inside the fence. Most of them followed me but by the time we got back to the bar some who had been there earlier were gone sadly. Sorry if I missed you guys.
I did get to meet up with lots of forum members over the weekend both at and outside the MAC bar. It was great to see our international members there like James Kightly (JDK) and Tony (kiwitone). Once again I completely missed seeing our American member Russ. Bugger. And I was keen to meet Jasper and see what his costume looked like too. Have you got a photo of you in the costume Jasper?

Shit Dave, sorry! I didn't mean to be such a nuisance - you just happened to have one of the better cameras on the field and I was keen for someone who knew what they were doing to catch the big moment. Sorry to ruin the Omaka forum meet-up guys

No nuisance at all Al, I thoroughly bloody enjoyed the engine runs. Plans can always be adapted to suit. I was more than happy to film the first run. So no sweat. It was all good. I just thought I'd better explain to the others why I didn't show up as arranged.

I should add too Al that seeing the Bristol Hercules engine running was for me one of the highlights of the show, after following the process on here over the many months seeing you bring it back to life. I wouldn't have missed the fun of seeing you get it going for quids, so there's no need to feel bad mate. I hope my original message ddn't seem like I didn't want to do it. It was great fun.
