Cracking pics, Dave. Thanks. She looked pretty glossy till all the panels came off.

The paintwork looks better than a lot of them did in the latter days of their service.
I was wondering if this was original RNZAF paint. If it's been repainted it's pretty good for accuracy.

Me thinks that's an RAF Jet Provost. Que? I'm undecided as to if that is ugly or not.

It looks pretty original to me. In one of your photos of the fuselage RH side (P1100715.jpg) just below the leading edge of the horizontal stab you can see the painting details stenciled in black. You might be able to see this in more detail if you have a high res orifginal.

Thanks for pointing that out Deane, it looks like it says it was painted on 27/4/91 at RNZAF Ohakea so it's the original RNZAF paint, and it's 20 years old. That's bloody amazing. It must not have flown too often in service since the last repaint, as others that were in service till the end were really ratchit and rough as guts as they were being phased out, including the ones that flew to Wigram for 2TTS and the Museum.
It is interesting to see the way the date is written because as you'll remember there was only one way to write a date in the RNZAF and it should have read 27 FEB 1991. I guess this didn't apply to aircraft markings.

That last colour scheme is atrocious, more so when they added the fake Viet Namese markings later..

Were they trying to make it look like a Cessna?

Either that or they were smoking a particularly good blend!
