This was a night ex for 23 sqn cadets to see what it would have been like in WW2, with raids by the NCOs, patrols and rations. We went over to the assault course and set up in the bunker, with teams Alpha, Bravo, Charlie and Delta going on half hourly patrols. Sleep was NOT allowed, and as we packed up at 0800 we were all very tired. Good fun had by all.

Just a point for accuracy if they were really trying to recreate wartime conditions, in WWII the teams would not have been Alpha, Bravo, Charlie and Delta however. Tose are codes from the post-1956 phonetic alphabet.
In WWII the phonetic alphabet would have seen these teams as Able, Baker, Charlie and Dog.

Yeah, I just thought you might be interested in the old way they did it.
We did very similar exercises on RNZAF Basic Training.Learning to stay awake all night prepared me for when I got gate guard duty. Doh!
