Hi there, i am searching for any information on my grandfather James Mandeno Liggins who flew with the RNZAF in WWII. He then went on to gradudate from University with a B.D.S. Any information on squadron etc would be fantastic, many thanks Sally x

Sally, From my trilogy 'For Your Tomorrow - A record of New Zealanders who have died while serving with the RNZAF and Allied Air Services since 1915 (Volume Three: Biographies & Appendices)': 1 Nov 41 'Monterey' Auckland-Sydney, transhipped to (ship?) for Singapore, arr 8 Dec. RNZAF for att to RAF: 12 Pilots – died: Felton, W W G; Morey, P A; Mottram, E W*; (3) – survived: Beauchamp, D S; Hendry, J A*; Jensen, H P; Liggins, J M; Mackie, J I; Sheehan, D F T; Wagstaff, E W; Wenden, J R; Wilson, H H; (9). * = PoW I'd be interested to learn which ship grandfather travelled on from Sydney to Singapore, should you come across this information. Have you thought to request a free photocopy of the papers that survive on his RNZAF record? Details here: www.nzdf.mil.nz/personnel-records/nzdf-archives/Errol

Errol, thank you so much, you know more that we do, we do not even know what Regiment/Squadron or anything, so many thanks. All we know is that he was a Pilot in the Malayan Theatre in the fall of Singapore.
And many thanks for sending the link to access records, i am filling out the form now to get a copy of these. I will def be back in touch when we find out any further details re: Boat travelled to Singapore etc as you have requested.
Many thanks again Sally Davison (Nee Liggins)
