Yeah an American Facebook friend has a few data plates of his own including an F6F-3 Hellcat with a known combat history. Some can fetch prices over US$1500!!

We had a forum digging session there last year Raymond as part of our 2010 forum meet. Didn't find any data plates on the day but I know Tony has found several really nice ones over the years during his pottering there. I'm amazed he hasn't commented here already. Maybe he's digging out the Avenger...

Interestingly I have a fuse box from an RNZAF Catalina, the serial of which is one that disappeared in the Pacific with I think 20 souls aboard. I don't know why it was not onboard the aircraft but Dad got it years later from Rukuhia I think, either at one of the sales there or from the scrappies when he worked with them there.

Did anyone else notice that the under-bidder in the bidding war for these data plates was oldplanefixa458 who was recently, if I remember rightly, selling off a lot of aircraft manuals and pilots notes on behalf of one of the restoration shops (AvSpecs?). Does someone have a p-40 in need of an identity?
