I have just realised that two of New Zealand's fighter aces, who both lived in Cambridge as children, went to school together.
Edward "Bill" Wells and David Livingstone were two NZ fighter aces.
Both were born in 1916, and both attended Cambridge Primary School and Cambridge District High School.
I will look into it if I can, but I sespect as they were the same age, and they were both small schools back then, both were probably in the same class together for around ten years and must have known each other.
I wonder if any other aces were childhood schoolmates together like this.
I also wonder whether either of these guys knew Cambridge's other ace, Keith Caldwell, at the time. As the Wells and Caldwell families were well known in social circles it's very likely Bill and Keith bumped into each other at some stage before WWII.
