Ok so lets post our Spitfire flights on this thread... Mmmmmmmmmm Merlin... This is a run we did through the Hunua Ranges (South Auckland) when returning to Ardmore from Whenuapai. Now trying embedding the clip...

Here's another clip of the takeoff from RNZAF Whenuapai.
I must say that the sound of the merlin at full cry from inside is completely different to what you'd expect but similar to how someone once described it..."as having a shotgun go off close to your head and not just once but continuously"...! That coupled with the fumes, heat, noise, snug fit and concentration made for a sensory overload but totally worth it. ;D

Not at all the lovely Merlin sound that you hear from the ground , but just a whole lot of noise . Not unpleasant , just not what you would expect .
