Does anyone know the full name and details of the No. 30 Squadron pilot who crashed Harvard NZ997 at Gisborne on the 4th of August 1943 please?
I have him as F/O N. McGechie. Is this right? What was his first name/s?
In the squadron there was also apparently an I.S. "Bill" McGechie and a F/Sgt W.F. McGechie, bot apparently pilots. Was it one of these two, or another guy again? Any clues on their full names too?

Dave,
There were only two McGechie in the wartime RNZAF (both pilots as you mentioned):
NZ413868 Ian Sinclair McGechie
And
NZ411423 William Francis McGechie
Both attended Teasdale School, so may well be related.
It was William who was flying NZ997.
