More NAC Planes

My Latest batch of NAC Planes. I have had these projects on the go for a while now, and just got the last little bits and pieces, and decals on them.

The first is Lodestar ZK - ANB. This aircraft was NZ3509, which was the plane that L.M. Isitt used to visit Japan as New Zealand's representative at the signing of the Japanese surrender. It was named Karuwai (robin) when in the NAC. In 1947 this plane was torn from its moorings during a gale, and blown to the other end of Palmerston North airport. It also nosed over while taxiing in 1949 at Whenuapai, and also collided with DC-3, ZK - AQT in 1949 at Paraparaumu. This Lodestar left NZ for the USA on 7 March 1952.







My next plane is a 1/72 Viscount, ZK - BRF (City of Christchurch). This viscount led a incident free life with NAC from 1959 until 1974. It was gifted to Ferrymead Heritage Park, in Christchurch, where it is located at present

My last plane is a 1/72 (yes that's right) Boeing 737. ZK - NAC was NAC's first Jet aircraft and made its maiden flight on 21 August 1968. This plane transferred to Air New Zeland when NAC ended, and continued in service until March 1986. It was broken up in America in 1992

Nice models again Ams, I like the Lodestar especially. The flight deck windows look a bit distorted on the 737? Would also have had eyebrow windows? Otherwise great models, thanks for sharing.

Have you seen the NAC model displays at Palmerston North Airport?

What are eyebrow windows? I made the decals with the windows, as it didn't have windows at all.

Eyebrow windows are the little windows above the main windows so pilots could look up a bit more. Probably useful in turns too I imagine.

oh... Yea the only actual window for the plane was rather plain. I didn't even think to check for those. Oh well...
