The Oshkosh airshow, the largest such event on the planet, is on right now in the USA at Oshkosh, Wisconsin.
The former RNZAF, former John Chambers P-40M NZ23119 is planned to be there in its RNZAF colours with Tri-State Aviation.
Does anyone know if any other aircraft with NZ connections will also be there this year? For example will Rod Lewis's recently restored P-40C be there?
Will Spitfire Mk V 'Marion' be there again?
Will other NZ-restored P-40's be in attendance? Or maybe ex-RNZAF Mustang 'Cripes A Mighty III' with Kermit Weeks?
Will Kermit have his new NZ-built Albatross there?
Are any forum members there this week?

The Oshkosh airshow, the largest such event on the planet, is on right now in the USA at Oshkosh, Wisconsin. The Plane Crazy Down Under team have organised sponsorship to and Media passes at Oshkosh. They aim to cover it from an Aussie/Kiwi point of view by getting interviews with appropriate participants etc. Links to podcasts, blog, and photos below. www.planecrazydownunder.com/2011/07/26/our-oshkosh-2011-coverage/

I have just heard that the P-40C, P-40M and Spitfire will not be attending the show. The P-40M has technical issues and probably won't make it. I was looking forward to photos. Oh well.

Attended last year and great though it is, expected rows of P40s and Corsairs. In reality, only several of each. More than made up for by the diversity of types though. Can't believe a whole year has gone around so quickly.

I am shocked to see how many Pilots have no idea what Oshkosh is...if you are truly passionate it is a must for every pilot. I had to cancel 3 weeks ago due to personal issues, but the money is still in the bank and me and my dad will be going next year. Looking forward to it...
Excuse me while I drown my sorrows in a Milkshake

LiveATC.net has several ATC feeds up and running, and also has EAA radio, which interviews interesting people and generally has airshow information. Bit american, though. Check out the North/South or Both Tower feeds. It's spectacular to listen to the controllers work at the busiest airport in the world!
Indytransponder also has quite a bit up.
Definitely going next year or the year after!

Dave, Skychallenge is a new Air Race format, but uses HUD and computer game-style programming to generate artificial "gates", which can be at a much higher altitude than, say, RBAR. It's also apparently able to allow flightsimmers to have a go on the same track. They've got a website www.skychallenge.com/ which has a bit more, including the new media release and a video. Check out the pilot's names in said video - one might be a mite familiar!

The F-16 ran off the runway yesterday in the wet. There's a classic photo of it in the Wix thread I linked to earlier in this thread. So far it seems to be the only accident although an F-4 Fury also ran off the runway in the same place, but isn't badly damaged by the looks of it. They usually write off several aircraft at the airshow, which really scares me. Fingers crossed this is the last of the incidents.

I saw a very impressive series of photos of the F-16 with soil flying over the wing and the radome breaking off. But the photos of the Fury sitting next to it on - no, in - the grass is sadly classic.

Also, photographer Al "spookythecat" Sauer has posted some wonderful photos from the show so far, including some very evocative night shots. One very strange piece of juxtaposition is a Hughes OH-6 Vietnam-era helicopter flying past the grassy F-16, with the B-29 'Fifi' in the background!
