Macfire,
Would you know if Mildenhall was also Lakenheath?

Macfire, Would you know if Mildenhall was also Lakenheath? Lakenheath is about 8 k up the road from Mildenhall. Both now have USAF units, Lakenheath has 48th Tac Ftr Wing, Mildenhall has refuelers and SoF. 75 Sqn was based at Mildenhall in late '42 according to my references, which confirms with the memories website.

Macfire, Would you know if Mildenhall was also Lakenheath? No, they are about 5 miles apart - both in Suffolk.

Guest is right - 75 Sqn were at RAF Feltwell 1940-42 then Mildenhall, which is east of the cathedral town of Ely, and later transferred over to Mepal, several miles to the west of Ely.

Thanks guys.
I read most of that somewhere but I got my story twisted thinking Mildenhall got renamed Lakenheath.
Thanks for correcting me.
