Off the back of a post in the P40 pile thread here are some stills from one of my Grandfathers movie's. I have been waiting a good chunk of my life to get my hands on these, and have only ever seen them projected off the original 16mm film. Only recently has the family started to get these converted to digital format. There are still many films I have not seen, and some others I know have RNZAF content.
We have home movies dating back pre-war and even colour footage of ZK-ADI and some of a Tiger Moth flying over the Wairarapa.
There is also a big Album of photos taken during his RNZAF days and I will try and get my hands on this and add the photo's here.
As soon as I can work out how to convert the DVD to something more web friendly and work out how to add a watermark I will post the entire movie. As Henry Hope-Cross has had a lot of photo's published over the years without credit all we are asking is that he gets the credit for this work Hence family request for a watermark on the DVD.
Anyway here's the stills from the movie hopefully I didn't get to carried away The movie is about 20 mins long with a lot of antics with his base mates. (If I knew who they were I'm sure their families would love to see it too.) This was filmed at Woodbourne Airbase.

WOW!!
All I can say is Wow!! Fantastic history here. Thanks so much for posting these here Daniel. Wonderful stuff.
How much Corsair and P-40 footage do you estimate there is? I'm desperately looking for RNZAF P-40 and Corsair footage for a film project (I have interviewed loads of pilots who flew them and want to make it into a documentary with footage, photos, etc if i can find enough material).
To be honest I don't know how much P-40 and Corsair footage there is, I suspect not that much but having said that I had never seen this movie until a few weeks ago! Alas progress is slow converting them to DVD and some of the family movies are higher in the que....I know there are some reels (or more to the point rolled up film) that have never been spliced together or seen, I need to learn how to do this!
There was a lot of footage of the machine shop too in this film, I wonder if those Aircraft were there to train on? Althought that maybe unlikely given the number of aircraft the RNZAF had?

Thanks Daniel. Whereabouts do you live, there may be a local film club where people can help you with the splicing, etc. Hopefully they are not nitrate films, they can go bang after all this time, literally. Probably won't be though.

I'm in Auckland, some of the films are in Auckland, some Taupo and some Wellington Luckly the family has a huge connection with Photography and old films so it should not be problem getting them sorted...just time and soneone to show me
OK, here's the Film, sorry about the quality drop I need to get the settings right on the DVD ripper but it's better than nothing! I've also chopped out all the antics around Nelson this is just the base content.
Please respect the copyright I know this is near impossible on the internet but no harm trying. All we want is him to get the credit, nothing more.
