Afternoon all, Hopefully there is still interest in what archives I currently have with me. This time it's a random selection from a number of trips to RAF Coningsby, back in a time when we had a decent sized fast-jet force....Enjoy. Lovely shots, thanks very much for posting them.. There's always an interest in pics here, especially since most of us don't get to see these beauties in real life.... Love the C47 pic in-between all the fast-movers..

Marvellous photos Michael, they are great. I love the shot of the Eurofighter taking off into the sun with another in the distance, and also that BBMF Dakota photo is great. And it's appropriate for the forum as a number of RNZAF pilots served on that special forces squadron that it depicts by the way.
I had no idea that the RAF still had a Phantom still flying so recently. What unit is that with?? I thought they went out in the 1980's or so.

Great photos, Michael - especially the ones of the wonderful Flying Can Openers' Jags.

I'm still amazed and slightly confused that the 2 seat Typhoon has the instructor at the same level as the front seater with their HUD backdropped by the front ejection seat.... Can they fly, mainly land visually from that seat with no forward view??

S2K Yeah, I haven't been able to work that one out either - unless they have some secrets in the back that allow them to see through the seat in front of them?

Maybe, but there's still that problem of a huge knucklehead in the front blocking the view! ;D Anyway, I thought most instructors chose to close their eyes during the last 100ft of the approach.....
