Nup, based in the Manawatu, that's Rex Breretons machine. Apart from the civil rego, exactly as I remember the Harvards in their twilight at Wigram. I love this particular machine too, for that reason. I also love the family story that goes with it. And I hope they'll forgive me for airing it. Rex bought this machine before son Mit who posts here was even conceived!!! What is neat is that having grown up with the machine as part of the family, Mit now flys it and has become a new generation champion of the Harvard. His passion for this aircraft is plainly evident when you talk to him, and his background knowledge of the Harvard in NZ service is very in-depth. I hope the Brereton's don't mind me posting this. I think Mit would be too modest to tell you himself !!!!!!!!

I think Mit would be too modest to tell you himself !!!!!!!! That's pretty spot on, the only departure from how she left the RNZAF is the rego, radio and transponder. (and I'm determined to keep it as original as possible). It was also the first Harvard to fly under civil ownership in NZ, so quite a long time before I was even a twinkle... It's nice to hear that it is an appreciated aircraft. Thanks for your kind words Peter!

Great stuff, well done Mit, I had no idea about the history of the aircraft as it seems to be a lesser seen example. Thanks for sharing the story. Is that still the original paint then, Mit? It looks to be in too good a condition for a 30 year old paintjob though I guess, unless it is just the care that has gone into preserving it.
Bruce, you're right about how green the grass is. And we're in El Nino which is meant to be less rain, more drought, so that seems a bit wierd.

Hay Dave, yes she is still in her original paint, there is alot to be said for keeping them inside and being well looked after.

Amazing, well done. The paint manufacturer should use NZ1076 as an advert!
