Further to finding the RNZAF otter was still in existence, I was trwaling the web looking for propliners (Love big round engined airliners and came across the following page: www.ruudleeuw.com/sa04.htm on it are 3 ex NZ aircraft, still surviving in South Africa: One of the 5 ex RNZAF C47s dispatched in the early 1980s, NZ3546 /ZK-AWQ One of the former BCPA / TEAL / RNZAF DC-6Bs , NZ3632 / ZK-BFB And for those in the Waikato, Carvair ZK-NWB, former long term resident of Hamilton Airport. I grew up with this plane Always sitting at Hamilton, and I guess I'm kinda fond of it..... (Supid Paint scheme it has now though!) They all appear in reasonably good condition, although none are currently employed - perhaps they'll find a good home somewhere. See the web page for more details (lots of other lovely propliners there as well....)
