An average day at in a rural Queensland community, Maleny on the Sunshine Coast, An interesting chat with a customer Richard Dent at my work place reveals that his son, Geoff Dent is a long time member of the ATC in NZ. Apparently with 19 Squadron. A small town co-incidence. If any one is in touch with Geoff could they let him know what a small world it is. Any one else have any similar encounters

Geoff works at the local hardware store around the corner for me. I'll pass on this message during my usual weekend visit to the power tool section.. I understand that Geoff is on his third 'bar' to his 'Cadet Forces' medal. Medal first awarded after 12 years service then a 'bar' awarded after each additional 8 years service and all continuous....!! See: medals.nzdf.mil.nz/category/e/e12.html

Yep, Geoff is unit commander of 19 (Auckland) Sqn, and has the CFM & 3 bars ( or rosettes as they are actually worn). He's actually due soon for his 4th rosette and is a test case for how that will be displayed on his uniform. I think SQNLDR "Buck" Buckingham in Wellington is in the same boat. You may see Geoff every now and then on the ITM tv ad that plays reguarly. You can also see Geoff in action with 19Sqn at www.19squadron.org.nzS2K
