Looks like if the TV pages have it right this time, the episode is about the RNZAF transporting the unknown soldier back home. Could be a moving one and worth watching.

And it is the last episode I doubt they'll make a second series, but it would be brilliant if they do. After all, they haven't covered the chefs, accounts clerks, admin, drivers, woodworkers, safety and surface, aircraft mechanics, Air Force Police, GSI's... Oh, that's right, the Government has scrapped most of these vital trades...

They seem to have forgotten 42 Sqn with the King Airs.... all the other Squadrons have had a go. GSTS at woodbourne would be a good one to do as well as all the ground trades go through there (Some even get out the other end...

GSTS is no more. It has changed and downsized. It now encompasses officer training and Command Training School too I believe, which used to be at Wigram.
The four Technical Training Schools are also combined into one facility that is a shadow of its former self.
Perhaps 42 Sqn wasn't covered because there were no courses going through at the time of filming. I mean, all they train is pilots for Hercs, 757's and Orions now as I understand it, and there's a tiny number of crews (only three complete crews for our six Orions I hear from a valued source!!). The AEOps and Air Engineers are trained in Aussie now I understand, so the Super King Airs are just multi engined trainers and nothing else, are they not? Or do they still do VIP duties too?
I'd like to have seen helicopter training covered in depth, and a few other exercises like Skytrain (Hercs dropping parachutes - international competition). And the SAR element of the choppers would be good, a bit of mountain rescue, police liason, etc.

Well I have to say it. The best episode of the lot !!
Very moving and sad just seeing all of those crosses.
Also, the inflight emergency gave it a little thrill as well.
What did you people think?

I agree, it was excellent. A very moving finale to the series, and the best episode yet.
I am also glad about the announcement at the end that the State Funerral will be replayed on ANZAC Day - that was the greatest national event we've had since winning the America's Cup and really showed the talents of our military well. I hope it is full coverage and not an edited down version.
