I have seen iPads fitted into the dashboards of cars, boats and now aeroplanes. Reckon the iAuster is a great idea. Instant engine readouts, GPS, up to date AIP and charts, all in one handy little unit.

The only thing that would worry me is how robust these iThingies are for operations in an aeroplane if fitted in a semi-permanent capacity? I realise that they are built tough enough to be dragged/tossed around by people on a daily basis, but do they cope okay with lots of vibration and heat in a aeroplane/boat environment? Baz, maybe you could make an Android Auster instead?

Not sure Craig, some airlines are using them as paperless systems for charts and AIP etc. But those aeroplanes are air conditioned and the pilots wash their hands Do Windows phones still have the really cool blue screen?
