Is it just my eyes playing up, or is there really a difference in the type of serial numbers applied to the RNZAFs CT-4E Airtrainers?
For example, I was looking at a photo on 'airliners.net' of three CT-4Es parked side-by-side at New Plymouth, and there seems to be a difference between the style of NZ1987, NZ1991 and NZ1988's serial numbers. NZ1987 and NZ1991's numbers seem quite angular, whilst NZ1988's are much more rounded and thicker.
As Pauline Hanson would say "Please explain?"!

Could it be because they're owned and maintained by civilians? They probably don't care as much as the RNZAF do, judging by most civilian aircraft operators.

Bingo... 88 = Two fat ladies! As I recall working at Aeromotive at the time, the serials etc are stick on vinyl lettering. after the first few CT-4Es were delivered I beleive they changed the vendor of these letters. (we were reconditioning the B's at the same time and used the same vendor) Obviously, unlike a Military operation, the exact font wasnt clearly specified.

Enthusiats mate.
Spotters write the numbers down, and the date, time, place....! They're the wierd ones!
