Ah, so you are the guy that wastes all the taxpayer's money on bureaucratic red tape?
Alan Peart said he was sick of Gibraltar so posted himself to an operational squadron in North Africa. By the time they caught up with him his CO defended him and he stayed.

If you can't take a joke you should never have joined up.. That last line is the English translation of Per Ardua Ad Astra, isn't it? Hmmm, I think it must be. I certainly heard it often enough. May even have come out with it myself on occasion. All part of the fun and games. Great stuff.

Further, from memory, last years Induction was a tour of the bases, start in WB for a couple of days, move to OH and then AK. Kingair tasking wasn't avail so to help you bond with yr new inductees, "roadtrip" in minivans.
Apparantly MT is but a shadow of it's former self with most people transport being contracted out to bus and rental companies (cheaper than leasing your own fleet) .... maybe rent-a-dent for your trip north?

Sweet, officially attested and inducted into the RNZAF on tuesday and spent the week learning enough stuff so that when I go on work experience to bases during university breaks I don't look like an idiot Got to get a peek at an A109 close up and visited the hangars where the hercules and Orion were getting a fix-up. Actually got to step inside the Herc, but couldn't get too close to the Orion as they were doing top-secret stuff on it. Walked past the old Skyhawks which was awesome and sad at the same time. All in all, an awesome week, and got paid for it too!

spent the week learning enough stuff so that when I go on work experience to bases during university breaks I don't look like an idiot I wouldn't make that assumption just yet if I was you. Last year we had a young girl on her break working at 6 SQN, she was given the job of reading all the citations at a medal presentation for a bunch of long gongs. The problem was she had no idea what all the abbreviation meant (which needed to be read out in full, ie WEF 'With Effect') and the more flustered she got the less able she was to read normal english words either. We all felt rather sorry for her.
