Pages 46 and 47 in the 'New Zealand Tiger Moths 1938 to 2000 ' book show NZ1484 in its peacetime colours ,silver and yellow colour scheme.If thats any help?

ZK-BRG of the Marlborough Aero Club at Browns Road, New Plymouth, 4Mar1967. Ex-NZ1482, Dec.surplus 28Jun56. Sold by tender to MAC for £305 Silver with green registration. Cr near Omaka Airfield 3.30pm 3Aug68.

Very smart looking at that also. Just look at the countries of manufacture back then, all sorts.
That is a Gardan Horizon behind the Tiger's tale. I don't know if I have ever seen one.

I was working at Safeair and flying at the aero club at Omaka in 1966---I just looked up my old logbook and I got a tow rating in BRG on November 4 that year--the start of a short stint glider towing. The fellow that crashed it was Bill Salt,a baggie at Woodbourne at that time . He did a towrope drop and stall/spin.crashed it from the last slipping turn. It was a nasty crash ,right on the spinner,and Bill was lucky to survive.He took out the rear dash and coaming and ended up with his legs each side of the engine. He is probably still about ,Tauranga last i heard -some years ago. BRG was a nice Tiger,,good to hear it is being restored.

Bill Salt is definitly still around and still shows the signs of his injuries. I joined up with Bill in 1965, and last saw him at Woodbourne at a reunion in January 2005

In Peter's neat photos of BRG the background shows some of the eclectic types that made up the GA inventory in those glorious days... BRG in the mid '60s was probably the only Aero Club operated one so it was a short flight over from Wellington. One of the SafeAir guys who still instructed checked me out [Owen Hughes] and it was the start of many happy hours. [incidentally bobgod, I was working at SafeAir in Wellington as a refueler/loader - guess I am wearing the company issued 'overalls' ] Great days!
