Are you thinking of buying a second one, Dazza? ;D Don't laugh the answer is a definite YES. Any ideas how much she would cost to ship to Aussie?

Around $150, I reckon.
Just book it in on Jetstar as a passenger named M. Irage, and make sure you tick the wheelchair box on the website. ;D

It's got long range tanks Darren, just ride the back of a good high and you'll get there.

Are you moving back there Darren or do you want one for when you're here and one for when you're there?

Are you moving back there Darren or do you want one for when you're here and one for when you're there? Good guess Dave. I am not going anywhere For those interested someone who used to work at the former Micro Aviation who has many dealings with shipping aircraft has told me about 1k to get it there. Not too bad

Can they not build them in Aussie? Not enough infrastructure?

Can they not build them in Aussie? Not enough infrastructure? You trying to get a rise? They are an American aircraft. Not many in NZ at all (I think 5 of us). They are incredibly fun to fly

Just out of curiosity what hoops are needed to be jumped through to legally fly one of these in NZ, both for pilot and machine? Interesting sales category that. Noted the Thunder Mustang is for sale, as well as another Strikemaster, and another aircraft I am familiar with (if you count throwing up in the back while circling over Lake Wanaka as 'familiar') ;D

That could take you anything from 5 to 20hrs to solo (same as GA). I went from GA to these machines (the opposite of most) but I do still keep my GA/aero current. Many folks are under the impression you don't even need a licence to fly microlights. Totally wrong and I tell you these machines are way trickier than GA stuff. If you don't learn to fly one of these things properly it will kill you. There is no doubt about that. Think low performance and very high drag.

Something like that stuttered past my house couple of mornings back headed for the pointy bit. Much the same track as light aircraft seem to use heading Norfolk, so possibly on his way? Didn't see him return so he must've made it.
