I hope you've had a great day, Dave, and that you manage to sink a few coldies tonight. All the best.

Thanks everyone!
Yes, I did get something very awesone, the new book Hurricane Tim about Tim Wallis! And signed personally by Sir Tim. It looks fantastic, loads of brilliant photos. Can't wait to read it.
Sadly, and amazingly, no socks and undies. Doh!
And I did indeed manage a couple of nice cold beers. It's stinking hot and muggy tonight so they were very welcome. Now that the Aussies have just beaten NZ at the cricket, I feel like another one...

Other than the cricket, glad to hear it was a good one. Happy birthday.
Be interested to know what you thought of the book. My dad and Tim were good flying buddies way back when.

Thanks Talon. Once the book is read I promise a full review. Don't hold your breath though, I'm a notoriously slow reader. Sir Tim is a huge hero of mine, and I have had the pleasure of meeting him on several occasions. He even interviewed me once for his home video he was making himself at the opening of the NZFPM. I'd love to see that video, so many of the greats were there. I was very lucky to get an invite to that private event as I'd just helped paint the Avenger and Ray Mulqueen was personally taking me under his wing at Wanaka. I spent the afternoon chatting with Colin Grey, Des Scott, Bob Spurdle and several others. An amazing memory. Sir Tim had taken every one of the veterans, most of whom were aces, and their wives, out two by two in his Hughes 500 and flown them down the river, and done some stunts. All of them, wives and husbands, were raving about the flight. They loved it. Tim had a favourite cliffface he apparently flew towards and did a wingover at the last minute. Even the greatest aces in the room were saying they shat themselves! Being there was everything, thanks Sir Tim.
