Navy vessel implies rather a grandios or substantial ship......looks more like an admirals barge to me, I had visions of a warship maroooooned on a reef, rather than the weekend snapper fishing launch. :-)

something similar to the poms frigate/destroyer reef run over near queensland a few years ago.

It's the Admirals barge and a big oops. Apparently usually a CPO in charge of it, but who ever skipper was they'll be for the high jump. If it is a senior rate they miaght lose their rate i.e., be demoted from CPO to PO or lose a lot of seniority. Especially as the Minister of defence has had to make statements on the TV news.
