Overseas there have been many genuine WWII veterans who have displayed WWII aircraft on the airshow scene over the years, I believe a few like Chuck Yeager still do.
Have any WWII era pilots ever displayed warbirds at NZ airshows?

Frank Bish - the pilot who 'flew' 'NZ5611' (NZ5648) at Rukuhia in the 1960s?

That was a high speed taxi, wasn't it? But I think it's close enough.

Depends on the time line you are using Dave. From what date are you thinking of?

Well as I was talking about the warbird scene, 1978 onwards I guess.
I know that ex-WWII pilots will have flown topdressers and civil stuff at many airshows from 1945 onwards. It's warbirds I am interested in.

Actually, didn't Stan Quill own a Harvard in the 1980's? Did he ever display it? I believe it's now owned by SVAS at Masterton.
Also, something in the back of my mind is telling me that there may have been WWII era crew members on the Catalina Club's Catalina when it first came to NZ? Or is that wrong?
