I was just looking at the calendar for March (to see if the Ardmore Showdown Wings vs Wheels was on it), and was struck by how many aviation-related events are on. And Wanaka is the first weekend in April. We are blessed! I note BTW that V is a major sponsor of ardmoreshowdown.co.nz/ so the Blunty might be keeping the decals on for a bit?

I have now added that Ardmore airshow to the calendar. It was news to me.
Does anyone know what will be flying?
Don't forget on the 30th of this month is the Forum meet at Ohakea in Brendon Deere's hangar!

It's looking like a car event with 'airshow', advertising seems to be aimed at gearheads. The actual details seem to be in some kind of embedded setup, which might have been causing your long load time (before it gave up?). Having a 'Doorslammer' car 'racing' vs L-39. Harvard display also in promo, along with Trojan and P-51, exactly what shows will be subject to change as per normal presumably. Sunday 4th March 2012Ardmore Airport, Auckland Gates open 9am – Show finishes 6pm Tickets at Gate $20 (no pass outs) Kids under 10 free
Nac Insurance Live Action Arena Car and Bike Show Live Drag Racing (imports and v8’s) Drift khana (NZ’s first drifting and gymkhana combined) Air Show (Warbirds, Mustangs, Harvard’s, Spit Fire, Helicopters etc.) Fmx demos and stunts Stunt Show Multicultural Food festival Trade Displays Career Opportunities Kids Area (bouncy castles etc.) Helicopter and Aeroplane Rides Much much more!!!
I've been thinking that I need to get more practice at panning to take more consistent photos, maybe North Shore would actually have a better practice to hassle ratio?

I'll be working that day, so I'll be around somewhere and given that the airfield will be closed for the air displays I'll probably be on the ground unless I'm booked for a crosscountry.

Looks like mainly cars and blondes, with just one hour booked for aviation. Instead, I'm planning to go to Matamata for that day as there seems to be more aviation activity booked there for the same day matamata-airshow.co.nz/

Are you going to North Shore on Saturday? Ah, no. It's M's birthday on that day. I am on a long leash, but there are limits!

It seems odd to organise a fly-in on the same day of the biggest airshow of the year. Will anyone show up I wonder?

Tokoroa Aero Club Annual Fly-in 2012 All aircraft welcome Light refreshments & drinks available for purchase All hangars will be open for viewing –Planes, Gyro’s, Micro-lights Models & Helicopters Tokoroa has NO landing fees Sealed and grass runway available Saturday 31stMarch -rain or shine From 10am onwards at Tokoroa Aerodrome This is an annual event held on the last weekend of Daylight Savings every year - and it generally gets a reasonable turnout. (the last couple of years have had pretty poor weather) and it is really quite a nice low key event. I know it is hard to believe, but not everyone is fussed by big airshows with high performance aircraft If I have sorted my Wheeler landings in CKE and got checked out, I hope to take it along.

Thanks Bruce, adding it now. There may be a few who like to go to both and have to miss one or the other though.
