Those Skyhawks are pretty rough eh. The sun can't do them much good. I notice blue tinges to the canopies, is this a protective layer or a tint that was used?

From memory, most of the plastic/acrylic canopies and transparencies had that blue plastic film on the inside. Glass windscreens didn't IIRC. Fascinating museum with some real oddball stuff. When I was working at Hatzerim in 2002, the IAF had just restored the A-4 '611'. It's interesting to see what ten years of desert sunshine has done to it. Hatzerim was an interesting place to be based in. On the base, the IAF operated Piper Cubs, Beech Dukes, Iroquois, Huey Cobra, Apache, Fouga Magister, A-4, F-15 and F-16. Every now and then the 'peace' would be shattered by visiting F-4 Phantoms. I'll never forget the thundering spectacle those machines created. Awesome! Around the base were many abandoned aircraft, helos, engines and weapons. Grumman Hawkeyes, Iroquois, Cayeuse, A-4's, Magisters, F-4's, P&W J-52, GE J-79, Allison 250, Vulcan cannon etc. I must add some museum photos one day too. They are all from 35mm so not so easy to post online.

maybe we could put an offer in for the Me 109 That we'd get one here and it'd be properly looked after.
