I just had an email from my friend Bryan Cox, the author and well known pilot, who says:
"I am having a computer problem, where after downloading photos from my camera, which I have done for years with this camera, when I save into my current saving folder (TAURANGA 2012) in Documents, when I open the file all the thumbnails are in colour, but when I then open the thumbnails using Irfanview program which I have also used for years, they appear in black and white. Will attach three examples - all showing in colour in the thumbnails - but the two latest ones not opening in colour. Have you any suggestions?"
Two of the three thumbnails i received were in b&w. I really have no idea what the issue might be, so I wonder if anyone here has any ideas for a solution please?

Sounds like some unintentional processing is going on.
I'd suggest resetting all the preferences within the program to the default settings, or even reinstalling the programs involved.

Don't think I know the answer but I know that colour uses up masses more kilo (mega) bytes than black and white. If I start to run out of memory my computer defaults to black & white. Don't know if this is any help or not.
