On the 30th of April 1968, The RNZAF evaluation team under Air Commodore Thomas Gill officially recommended the purchase of the McDonnell Douglas A-4 Skyhawk, after having evaluated the A-4E, for our Strike Wing replacement aircraft. An order for 14 aircraft was placed. The cost, $24.6 Million
