I'll be there, as always! Possibly working, but as the airfield is closed during the flying displays I'll find someplace comfortable on the aero club deck to get some photos.

Merely a technicality, but what is a photo-reconnaisance Spit (PR863, is it?) doing on a poster advertising a New Zealand Airshow/Open Day?

I guess as the event is commemorating D Day and the Spitfire was involved in D Day it seems appropriate enough.

Maybe 'cause its got D-Day invasion stripes clearly showing?

I stand to be corrected but I believe Spitfire PS853 is a late/post war PR XIX which would have had no involvement in D-Day but I believe that the aircraft depicted on the poster is Spitfire PR XI PL965 which flew for many years in a PR Blue scheme sporting D-Day invasion stripes. I also believe PR XI's were heavily involved in the PR work in planning D-Day so is appropriate.
PL965 is currently housed with the Hangar 11 Collection at North Weald Airfield with Peter Teichman and wears an attractive PR Blue scheme but no invasion stripes.
Will be awesome if the Yak- is flying at the Open Day....one of my favourites and was gutted I could not attend Wanaka to see it and the two-ship this year!

Spitfire PS853 entered service on January 13th, 1945.

That's definitely an XI on the poster, not a XIX like '853. I'd agree it's probably '965.
