Hi all, Now here's one for those with shoeboxes of prints and slides. I'd love to see some photos of the big airshow at Ohakea on April 4 and 5 1987. I reread the souvenir booklet countless times as a kid - it's in pretty poor condition now - and it always aroused great interest. Seeing glimpses on Colin Rippey's Kiwi Red video finally let me see some of the show that was in my imagination much as I played with my models as a child.
What pics does the forum collective have?

Haha awesome, cheers Sam. I was there.....in the womb! Arrived by car but the heat got to Mum. She told me last week that they decided to fly her back in the WAW JetRanger (one of two giving rides) and every 90sec or so the pilot would turn and say "You're ok back there? No baby yet? You're not having that bloody baby in this chopper!" :-D

That almost explains everything about you Zac, you got your first flight whilst still a wombat.

I reckon! Yeah thanks for that Dave :-P Mum always apologises for my upbringing: we lived at Wanganui Airport, about 30m from the hangar where said JetRanger was based. I was resident at NZWU from birth to about age 3.

ZacYates - any chance of getting a scanned copy of the souvenir booklet?
As a young kid I was at the airshow at Ohakea, whilst I'd always had a love of aircraft this was my first airshow that I ever went to so it holds a special place in my heart.

I am pretty sure it was the Mirages last deployment to NZ. Definitely a favourite of mine.
