It has been traditional in the past for NZ and overseas Armoured Regt crews to give their tanks an individual nickname, often which was painted onto the tank. I am wondering, do the current day NZ Army LAV crews give names to their personal LAV?
And is there a collective nickname for the type too or just Lav?

Crew I spoke to post-earthquake last year said they just call them "Lavs" when I asked them that question... their vehicle was name "Annihilator" too, in black, just like the Scorpions and PCs used to be.
Cheers, Ian

I have yet to see an NZLAV with an individual name painted on it. Being a newish, multi million dollar piece of equipment probably means the fun police would frown upon the practice. When we had the M113s they would have nicknames based on the squadron they belonged to, for example: Arsekicker, Bezerker, Shakka to represent Alpha, Bravo, or Support Squadron. I don't know if the CVR(T) vehicles used a similar naming convention as I didn't see them around much before they were withdrawn from service.
