Good stuff - and an interesting fellow. Has anyone read his book ?
An oft quote story - heard it myself at Cranwell mid 1980s - was that when they came to move the Gate Guardians at RAF Scampton ( I assume ) which were a pair of a Grand Slam and a Tallboy bomb, they found them to be 'inordinately heavy' - yes, you guessed it still full of Torpex explosive !
Nice story - might even be true.
