Recently drove passt Biggin Hill on my first trip to the UK, was quite surprised to see a Spitfire and Hurricane facing me as i drove past. Went in for a quick look, and was amazed to find the Biggin Hill Chapel. I had about 3 minutes to have a look around before it closed, so hurridly grabbed some pics. The most eye opening was the wall behind the altar is taken with a large board, listing all the Biggin Hill pilots who were killed during WW2 listed, surrounded by their flags and large battles. Included are 485 and 486 Sqn names. View from Outside: Inside: NZ names: Spitfire (replica): Hurricane (replica): If anyone has any further to add, please don't hesitate. I really didn't get long enough to do the place justice.

Great photos. I can't believe some parents called their kid's middle name Dumbell though!

Flashed past there myself a year ago and would have loved to have stopped - however wifee was looking for the ladies room so stopping was out of the question. Have to say Biggin Hill is quite unfriendly. The gate from the road to access the terminal is not open to any but those with airline tickets - even to park there! And when we went into one of the GA Flying School offices we were ignored!!

great to see your pics of the chapel and aircraft. I have been there myself from time to time since my pal shifted there in 1985. I went past one day and noted that the hurricane wasn't there and had been replaced by another spit replica. So I when I met my english pal at the "tigers head" in Bromley, I casually mentioned that there are two spitfires on the corner now.....and it worked! Dave said that was kiwi bullshit and promptly offered me £100,000 if I could prove it!! What he didn't know was the hurricane was away to be tarted up and the spit was tempory. We still chuckle about that; I'm waiting for him to win the lottery so I can collect.
