Stumbled over this while out looking for the famous white horses around Wiltshire. Is apparently cut into the chalk in the same manner as the horses by NZ troops after WW1. Is pretty hard to get pics of, due to trees growing below it. Might have snuck onto some part of Bulford Army Camp to grab this pic from a couple of miles away. Wikipedia has an entry on it. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bulford_KiwiAlso pleased to note this, the local school at the camp, which is on the hill below the kiwi:

Yes, a well known landmark. The children of the school have always maintained the kiwi, keeping the grass cleared off it. In 1991 a No. 3 Squadron crew flew into there with their Iroquois that had just won Concour de Elegance at Helimeet, and they visited the school and the kiwi. Not many places have been visited by one of our whockas on that side of the world!

Is there not also a WWII R.N.Z.I.R beret badge there also? I read about these "graffitti" about 6yrs ago and remember there were a lot of them there. (if i have the right area)

The RNZIR did not exist in WWII.

Sorry Dave yes i know that, I used it as this is a more airforce orientated site. I SHOULD have said N.Z army i guess, you guys are too clever! I have 1 of each regiment badge from WWII but think what i remember seeing was the N.Z exp force or A.I.F? my memory is somewhat challenged these days, but my point was i think there is more Kiwi chalk scratchings there and many others.
