Today we started training for the Davy Jones Memorial Drill competition. The three NCOs in charge reminded us as we stood to attention on the parade ground beside the runway, that we could not look around. Even if a RNZAF Herc came in and landed.
Now we don't often get RNZAF flying over us in Nelson. So guess what decided to come directly overhead about two minutes later?
Yes, a Hercules. Of all times.
Anyway, they let us watch it for 30 seconds as it did a low pass over the runway.
