Yep, it looks great on that angle, but the photo also shows to good effect why the white was later removed from the Kiwi roundel. I can't believe how much it stands out.
These Skyhawks seem to be in a semi-gloss colour scheme?

Nice photos. I had never heard of Cope Thunder before, so did a search and found out more from Wikipedia en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_Flag_-_AlaskaI had certainly heard people talking about Exercise Red Flag (and I'm sure another called Black Flag?) whilst I was in the RNZAF. So where were these photos taken? Was it the Philippines?

Dave, you're correct; these photos were indeed taken in the Philippines when the Americans still had a huge military presence there in the 1980s.

Used a great video that 3 Sqn RAAF had called cope thunder blunders. Plent of crashes
