About 15 years ago, My grandfather and my father told me of an army storage bunker in the Heathcote hills..NOT Godley Heads. Apparently it has vehicles and weapons stored in it from WW2, and was stored in case the Japanese landed at New Brighton Beach or Sumner.
From what my Father said, the army has forgotten about it..or lost interest in it, and the bunker is still there untouched and unopened for over 50 years. Now I have had a nose around there but not a indepth one, but was wondering if anyone else has heard about the bunker

Canterbury University are using a WW2 bunker somewhere around there to house their Super Computer - Not sure of the location nor the current status post - earthquake, but that could be the one you refer to.

I did a little bit of hunting and found its not the Supercomputer in the Bunker, but the university of Canterbury's Ring Laser. The site is called Cracroft Caverns - see en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cracroft_Cavernsgoogle earth puts it at 43°34'29.32"S 172°37'22.83"E
