For a truly amazing time consuming good time you should type these co-ordinates into google maps: 32.163005,-110.852877 . It is the most amazing aircraft graveyard I've ever seen... I wonder if we sweet talk the yanks, whether they will let us have some of those mothballed F16's as a present ;D

I'm sure in years to come there will be plenty of forums, magazines, etc dedicated to those aircraft, with the few left selling for millions, and folk thronging to airshows and museums to see them. And they'll be saying,"If only we hadda saved some more..."

Lots of interesting types there; I spotted some A-4s, a T-33, some weather recon Canberras, F-111s, A-3 Skywarriors, Starlifters, C-5s...

I spent two days at Davis in September 2010, one of my must visit places. For an extra $5 at the adjacent Pima Museum you got a one hour tour of the storge area. I have posted photos somewhere on this site. The surounding scrap yards seemed to be winding down because of air pollution rules banning smelters , so an enormous chipper had been built. It swallowed wings whole. At one yard I negotiated to buy an A7 for $5000 but after nearly two years trying to get an export permit the project has been canned. A visit is worth the couple of hundred dollars it costs to fly to Tucson but two days werent enough.

Did anyone spot the Super-stallion in flight? Using the screen grab above as a guide, open up a google map and go to the area where the 3 tanks positioned just above the 'Davis Monthan AirForce Base" words are and zoom in. You'll see it. The funny thing is that I can't see it's shadow on the ground so I wonder how high it is?
