Hey, I was wholly tongue-in-cheek with my cynical comments... not serious. I know those selection boards are a lot of work.
A first glance look at the Andover and HS748 tells you the Andover has a different tail desing and a stetched fuselage too.
I don't think the 748 could crouch, could it?

Sorry Dave, it's the written word as opposed to the spoken, we sometimes miss the nuance!
The 748 can't kneel, and really, it is a quite different aircraft to the Andover. They're related, but like cousins twice removed!

Yep, sorry. I should have used smileys to make it more clear.
I always hated hearing airshow commentators saying Mount Cook used Andovers like the RNZAF. I agree, distant relations only.
The Andover is a much more balanced and more modern looking aircraft than the 748, and just looks nice in every scheme I've seen - especially the red, white and blue Farnborough scheme.
My mate's dad was in RAF Transport Command in the 1960's and 70's, and he always wanted the opportunity to make the radio call "Andover over Dover, Over", but it never came.

True. But as it turns out, it's about as based on it as Pearl Harbor the movie was on a true story ;D ;D ;D
Anyway, back to other selection alternates... any more?
