Cool stuff.
Noted that the Lanc suddenly needed lots of eyes in the cockpit for safety.
White helmets look somewhat out of place in the Lanc, but I suppose leather just isnt safe these days!!!!

man every station looks quite exposed. just one bullet would have easily done the trick back then, and yes i suppose it did many times.

It just feels right seeing a formation of Spitfires overflying London, no matter what decade it is.

It is a small peeve of mine, seeing modern helmets in classic aircraft. I suppose they are just standard RAF issue. A lot of the non-AF Warbirds pilots get NZ made Campbell Classic helmets which have a retro look to them while still being built from modern safety materials. If I could afford one, that's the way I'd go. I actually wear a leather flying helmet in the Yak, but it has a standard modern headset built in, so the look isn't quite authentic Russian cold war. It's more about keeping the headset on during negative G rather than looking good...

Nah, they re just there for a nosey. Apart from the front two, the others are standing. I guess in formation flying it might help having extra eyes, but I suspect the two rear guys are just getting a good look, I can't really imagine them having guys standing up in the flight deck during displays and what not.

All this reminds me i must dig out dads old velvet lined pigskin? pacific helmet when home next and his old sheepskin boots ex-R.N.Z.A.F

Great footage. The Hurricane looked a bit closer from the ground but it's still very close for the BBMF who don't usually do big formations like this.

The bomb aimer and rear gunner's views made me think of the potential for Peter Jackson's Dambuster's film, post "The Hobbit". It would be truly awesome. especially in 3D I'm thinking.
