That is part of current RNZAF Recruiting Policy Dave, to get former people back in. They have also allocated funding to attracting ex-RAF people, 150 of them, who have become available following the massive downsizing of the RAF. A lot of them are already here having been interviewed in the UK. I know one guy in Air Movements who left for various reasons, but is now back in with the post of his choice from which he will not be posted! He's a WO

No, you missed the point. i know that the RNZAF is re-recruiting old airmen back (I even looked into it myself), but the point was - a TradeMe auction!!
Well they closed half of the recruitment offices so I guess this is all they can resort to.....

It's a civy opposed to Uniformed job Dave.
Still I wouldn't have a problem with it. The cost of the add would be tiny and if they get someone then all well and good.
The RAAF here have video games for download on their recruiting website. Trying to get people interested.
The US army paid for America's Army Online as a recruiting tool.
The RNZAF has gotta move with the times. I'd say the RNZAF (like the ADF) struggles to get techincal trade people and these people tend to be highly net savvy.

I have no problem at all, it is just an unconventional way for the military to advertise vacancies, that's all. I mean online job sites, yes. Auction sites? A little odd, no? The RAAF here have video games for download on their recruiting website. Trying to get people interested... So does the RNZAF. Plus they have a paper C-130 you can print out for the kids. The RNZAF has gotta move with the times. I'd say the RNZAF (like the ADF) struggles to get techincal trade people and these people tend to be highly net savvy. Again I agree. My only point on this post which seems to ahve been lost, ITS NOT AN AUCTION....

It's not actually an auction, you can't actually place a bid as such. David Kirk is getting Trademe into the Jobs advertisement market www.stuff.co.nz/stuff/0,2106,3758453a11275,00.html

Oh well, fair enough. I didn't know they were becoming a job advertiser too.
It popped up in my saved auction list though, which is why I thought it very odd.
