In the February 1975 issue of NZ Wings, an article on low level airspace for jets to practice mentions that the year before, 1974, an RAF Phantom had collided with a light aircraft while flying low level and had killed the NZ pilot. I'm assuming it means the jet's pilot was a Kiwi, not the oter plane.
Does anyone have more details of this? Was he RNZAF on exchange?
