The VCD that Calum has kindly included with the DVD of the Forum Video contains some excellent clips of RNZAF Skyhawks in action, including some fantastic footage of rocket firing practice around Volkner Rocks.
I noticed that some of the Skyhawks are shown carrying only one pod of rockets each, and that the pod was located on the centreline hardpoint. Does anyone know if this was a standard configuration for rocket training, or was it more usual to carry the pod(s) on the wing hardpoints?

I remember loading the LAU 5002 (6 shot) on all the different stations at one time or another, but it was more common to have them loaded on the wing stations. It depended on the profile they were flying, whether they were also doing practice bombing off PMBRs at the same time etc. I remember during Matakiri 98 that we even had a TER of LAU 5003s (19 shot, single use launchers) loaded with HE on STN 3 for a fire power demo, thats 3x19 rockets!
LAU 5003s didn't get used much becuase they were one use only, so the all metal 5002s were the main launchers used.

Cheers Phil! Gee, I'd love to see three pods of 19 rockets being salvoed off.

If you get a chance to see Sleeping dogs, there is a shot of the A4s rippling off 9x19 shot (I think). Thats one under STNs 1 and 5, 2 on a TER on STNS 2 and 4, and 3 on a TER on STN 3.

I bought a copy of Sleeping Dogs from The Warehouse (where everyone gets a bargain!) last year. I will certainly have to have a closer look at it again soon then.
