I tried to use the link, and that did not work, and I tried to search for the photo, and that did not work. I would love to see the photo, is there any other way you can capture it and post it ?

Sorry, stupid long links never work right. Here's the photo The foreground architecture certainly looks RNZAf or NZ Public Works Department style but I'd guess the hangar is civilian?

Hmmmm not too sure... Whenupai (40 Sqn / Air Movements ??), Re the guy in the uniform, the uniform looks civillian, no rank, strange looking hat badge

I read the original caption on the Nat Library web page, which describes the uniformed person as an "RNZAF Officer" which I am not sure about either. It looks more like a Union Airways or NAC crewman (perhaps a Navigator?) but with some campaign medals. As a lot of RNZAF crew were seconded to those airlines it is possible they were allowed to wear thier medal ribbons on thier civvy uniform. I have tried enlarging the picture to read the sign on the door of the truck in the background, but no joy, its not clear enough....

Ok...here's my take on the photo...a unions airway navigator with a family who have just arrived at Palmerston North airfield with the little boy looking back at an electra?
