What's the best misinformation, or downright utter B.S. that you've heard regarding the aviation scene in NZ?
When I was at the Warbirds Over Wanaka airshow in 2002 (or it may have been the show there in 2003), I was near to a bloke wearing NZ Warbirds jacket and hat, talking to his friends about how Sir Tim Wallis had just bought the Lancaster fro Motat and was going to get it flying! I laughed to myself as his friends, also Warbirds members from their regalia, tried to argue the point and he wouldn't hear it.
Have you heard any funny stories like this, or people spouting about stuff at airshows where they're clearly wrong but think they're clearly right?

I once heard (can't remember where) that Peter Jackson had bought a B-17 Flying Fortress....maybe it's true......

Hmmm. interesting rumour.
There was also a press report in the mid 1990's, in NZ Wings magazine, that a B17 was coming to the Wanaka airshow as a guest. Never happened sadly. I think that was the year that the Wildcat came, as a cheap yet welcome replacement.
